| Event Description | Public Action to Deliver Shelter, Inc. PADS is an organization committed to ending and preventing homelessness in DuPage County. We will prepare and serve a lunch meal for 35-65 people. | Additional Description | You don't need to stay until 6:00 if you can't, but please try to be there until 3:00 to help prepare and serve the food. That's when we need the most help. We had popcorn, chex mix, veggies w/ ranch dressing, cottage cheese with peaches, tacos (soft and hard shell) w/ fixins', spanish rice, nachos, cream of broccoli soup, ice cream, and cookies! Also brought 2 bags of ice, 2 gallons of milk, and 6 2-liters of soda. The tacos were very popular. 15 pounds of meat was enough, but needed more than 72 taco shells. Soft shells were much more popular than the hard shells. The Spanish rice took a lot longer to cook that the boxes said it would, so needed to get that started cooking sooner and also it might have helped to put it in several smaller pans than 1 big pan. The nacho cheese was a big hit. Could have used more than just the 1 big can. Used 3 heads lettuce, 2.5 blocks of cheddar cheese, 4 cans black olives. Forgot tomatoes for the tacos but no one asked for them. The cucumbers and green peppers were popular veggies. Needed another jar of jalepeno peppers (only brought 1). |
